Halleluyah folks! It's Sunday morning. Amen to God in heaven. I am suppose to be in church fellowshiping with other brethren in the presence of God. Clapping, dancing and praising Jehovah.
But for some reasons I decided to lay back on my couch and practise my hermeneutics skill by writing this post, after all, I was the best student in hermeneutics in 1997 when I was in the Bible school. Those were the good old days when my family thought I was going to be a pastor. Can you believe it!
Anyway, this morning I want you to know that when God gives His word, we know He will keep it (see Luke 21:33). His words is in fact a work already accomplished. It is known that in biblical times, the spoken word carried with it the same credibility as a legal written contract. Verbal oaths were binding agreements between two parties. In the speaking word, the work was literarilly accomplished.
This is still evident in the Middle East today. The common greeting, "Peace be with you," and "Peace be with you, also," is exchanged primarily among friends. For the speaking of the word, peace actually establishes peace.
In fact, should a disagreement break out between friends, or even news acquaintances, it is not uncommon for either party to ask for his "peace" back. The other person must return the peace with the phrase, " I give your peace back to you."
Unlike the peace of men, God has given us eternal peace in Jesus Christ (see Mattew 28:20). "Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me" (John 14:1).
What is peace? Peace is the inner knowledge that your relationship with God is secure. It is the assurance that your sins are forgiven. Your life is clean and new through the shed blood of Jesus.
Peace - it's all in the word. And the Living Word is the person and work of Jesus Christ. Look to Him for peace with God and peace with others. He will never take His peace from us for He said,"My peace I give to you; not as the world gives" (John 14:27). God's eternal peace will bring us into a loving, lasting relationship with Him forever.
It does not matter what you are going through now, I pray the peace of God into your heart and His calm into your life. May God give you absolute peace from all your worries, and challenges. Amen.
