SLEEP IS A REHEARSAL OF DEATH

I woke up with the thought of sleep. How just a mere act of sleeping is a reminder that we will all lie down one day and we would not wake up. We will die. But thank God for a sleep is just a reminder that one day we'll surely die, but today we are still alive .

When we are awake, we should celebrate the fact that God has given us victory over a mini-death. He has resurrected you from a deep sleep which could have been for ever.

You may not agree with me, but sleep is a metaphor to depict death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Think about it, when you're asleep you become oblivion to your environment, same as when you would be dead.

If you are reading this blog, it means you are awake from your slumber, and it's a proof that you have just experienced a mini-resurrection, but bear it in mind that your "mini-resurrection is a rehearsal of DEATH. Think about the day you'll sleep and never arise, but before that would happen, you need to take advantage of each day God has given you to show some kindness to the people around you. Impact their lives in so many positive ways so that when you die they (those you affected in positive ways) will continue to show gratitude to God for all the evidence of your kindness in their lives.

Have a lovely day folks.

I'M A CHRISTIAN By Maya Angelou

Late Poet Maya Angelou

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I'm clean livin."
I'm whispering "I was lost,"
Now I'm found and forgiven.

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble
and need CHRIST to be my guide.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak
and need HIS strength to carry on.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed
and need God to clean my mess.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect,
My flaws are far too visible
but, God believes I am worth it.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain,
I have my share of heartaches
So I call upon His name.

When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not holier than thou,
I'm just a simple sinner
who received God's good grace, somehow.

REST IN PEACE.

MGI STUDENT MUST STRIVE FOR EXCELLENCE

Once you've achieved success, it takes a lot of faith and hard work to believe you can upstage your own accomplishment.

It takes faith , hard work and determination for a C student to believe that she/he can earn B's or A's, and likewise for a straight - A student to believe that she /he can do an A+ job in the career world.

Whether you are a low, medium, or high achiever, you need confidence, in addition to the above points in order to do better. You must strive for excellence.

Striving for excellence in your studies or career is an act of faith. God is not honoured or glorified by mediocrity. The Bible says in Eccl. 9:10 "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going".

Whether you have just been promoted to the next grade/level or you are a repeater, you need to motivate yourself to strive for excellence. In my opinion, striving for excellence indeed required lots of confidence, and my suggestion to you is that you should build your level of confidence in yourself, and study hard so that you will not fail.

Remember that you paid a lot of money in order to study at MGI, therefore, you need to stay focus and strive for excellence in this academic year. I know that you can make it, but you need to believe it. You need to motivate yourself in order to make success or passing all your modules a possibility.

Motivate yourself today by voicing these assurances:

I can do it!
I can become a champion if I set my heart on it!
I feel obligated to perform at my best!

Your confessions will become your assurances of success, and your step to excellence, and you will praise God for his goodness.

Have a lovely week ahead

When God Created Mothers

Erma Bombeck
When the Good Lord was creating mothers, He was into His sixth day of "overtime" when the angel appeared and said. "You're doing a lot of fiddling around on this one."

And God said, "Have you read the specs on this order?" She has to be completely washable, but not plastic. Have 180 moveable parts...all replaceable. Run on black coffee and leftovers. Have a lap that disappears when she stands up. A kiss that can cure anything from a broken leg to a disappointed love affair. And six pairs of hands."

The angel shook her head slowly and said. "Six pairs of hands.... no way."

It's not the hands that are causing me problems," God remarked, "it's the three pairs of eyes that mothers have to have."

That's on the standard model?" asked the angel. God nodded.

One pair that sees through closed doors when she asks, 'What are you kids doing in there?' when she already knows. Another here in the back of her head that sees what she shouldn't but what she has to know, and of course the ones here in front that can look at a child when he goofs up and say. 'I understand and I love you' without so much as uttering a word."

God," said the angel touching his sleeve gently, "Get some rest tomorrow...."

I can't," said God, "I'm so close to creating something so close to myself. Already I have one who heals herself when she is sick...can feed a family of six on one pound of hamburger...and can get a nine year old to stand under a shower."

The angel circled the model of a mother very slowly. "It's too soft," she sighed.

But tough!" said God excitedly. "You can imagine what this mother can do or endure."

Can it think?"

Not only can it think, but it can reason and compromise," said the Creator.

Finally, the angel bent over and ran her finger across the cheek.

There's a leak," she pronounced. "I told You that You were trying to put too much into this model."

It's not a leak," said the Lord, "It's a tear."

What's it for?"

It's for joy, sadness, disappointment, pain, loneliness, and pride."

You are a genius, " said the angel.

Somberly, God said, "I didn't put it there.”

Denial into declarations

The Cross
On the evening of Jesus Christ’s trial and crucifixion, Apostle Peter was in a severe state of depression. Hours earlier, Peter had boldly asserted that he would never deny his Master. Yet later, during Christ’s trial, Peter sat crouching in fear, warming himself by a fire. A servant of the high priest’s court approached Peter and for the third time asked if he knew Jesus. Peter simply denied his Lord. Upon his denial, a fowl crowed – fulfilling Jesus word to Peter that he would deny the Lord three times before down. Peter ran out weeping bitterly.

The emotional scars left on Peter’s life must have been devastating. Yet within forty days Peter stood in the Jerusalem temple proclaiming Jesus before three thousand people. This speech took place only one hundred yards from where he had flatly denied Christ as his Lord and Saviour.

What happened? Why the change in Peter? Three days after Peter’s denial, he witnessed the risen Christ Jesus’ love and forgiveness which freed Peter from the emotional scar upon his heart.

You and I are like Peter in many ways. A lot of times we may have denied Jesus, unintentionally or wilfully, choosing not to include Him in our lives. But we are assured with confidence that Jesus Christ has given us His kingdom. There is no sin too great, to severe, or too scary to separate us from the love of God, especially during this season of commemoration of His birth.

Let Jesus Christ’s love turn your denials into declarations of His love and forgiveness for all mankind. Then like Peter, go and proclaim boldly what your Lord has done this yuletide season.

Merry Christmas

THE MAN DIES, BUT LIVES …

                                                   1918-2013              Source: Google image

A lot have been said about former president of South Africa, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, from Thursday 5 December 2013, when his death was announced to the world.

But, what stood out for me in all the accolades pouring for the former statesman was his love for children, and his selfless services to humanity.

From what I’ve heard so far, I am certain that, he was one of the greatest sons of Africa. He was a gift from God to humanity.

……and now, he's dead

You’ll be dearly missed by all of us.
